January 3, 2010Kissimmee (Fla.) defensive end B.J. Butler is one of the top rush ends in Florida this season. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Osceola High star was rated a Top 50 player overall in the Sunshine State recently. In a video interview for HighSchoolPlaybook, Butler says he is still committed to Georgia, but he expects that to change very shortly.
"I am committed to Georgia, but I am not really feeling them lately. I've been talking to (new Louisville coach) Charlie Strong lately and I'm going to go ahead and go to Louisville," Butler said in an interview on Dec. 27.
Strong, who was hired at Louisville in early December after a successful stint as Florida's defensive coordinator, has kept in close contact with Butler throughout the recruiting process. Strong wouldn't directly contact Florida recruits unless they called him, which Butler has done.
"He was recruiting me hard at Florida, but I wanted to leave the state so that's why I never said much about Florida," Butler said. "Me and him have a good bond, like a father-son bond."
Butler is expecting a Louisville offer to be at his school when they come back from Christmas break. Once he has an offer, a decommitment from Georgia and a commitment to Louisville could be right around the corner.
"I think I'll have an offer when I go back to school because he's been telling my Momma that he wants me to come to his school," Butler said. "He said he'll take care of me, and he wants me and him to turn the program around. He wants me to start when I get there if I come in and work hard."
"He told me that I'm coming up there Jan. 8, and he's got a couple players coming up from Florida that day."
