Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker was injured during Louisville's 30-7 win at Temple Saturday. He left the game and came back to the sideline in street clothes with a shoulder sling.
CardinalSports.com spoke with Charlie Strong Monday morning on the American Conference Coaches' Teleconference for an update on Parker.
"Right now DeVante Parker is going to be day to day, and then on Thursday we will re-evaluate him to see if he is going to be able to go play or not," Strong said.
Parker is Louisville's leading receiver and one of the top scoring threats in the nation. His injury Saturday ended a streak of 10 straight games with a touchdown catch.
After Parker returned to the field with the sling on his arm and no update was released Sunday after an MRI, many fans feared the worst. CardinalSports.com asked Strong about the fear that Parker would be out for multiple games or, worse, if the injury could have been season ending.
"No, I don't know where that fear ever came from, Howie," Strong said. "But DeVante is going to get his treatment and then the training staff is going to make that decision."
Parker caught a pair of passes for 44 yards before his injury. He has 21 catches for 375 yards and six touchdowns so far this season.
