CARDS WILL GO FOR RARE WIN IN TAMPA
This Saturday, the Louisville Cardinals (6-1, 2-1) will take on the South Florida Bulls (2-4, 2-0) in Raymond James Stadium as they try to rebound from the tough loss last week against UCF. Tampa has not exactly been a good place for the Cards. They are just 1-4 against USF in Raymond James Stadium. The lone win came in 2011 as they beat the Bulls 34-24 to finish the season 7-5 and win a share of the Big East title. In South Florida's last two games (wins against Cincinnati and UConn), they did NOT score an offensive touchdown. Former WKU head coach Willie Taggart is working to rebuild the program at USF, so the Cards will be heavy favorites in this one. The game kicks off at noon and can be seen on ESPN2 and heard locally on 840 WHAS AM with Paul Rogers.
CHRIS JONES ON COUSY LIST
Earlier this week, junior point guard Chris Jones was named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list, presented annually by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the top point guard in the country. The list starts with 45 players and will be narrowed to 20 in early February and then cut down to 5 by early March. Jones was the national junior college player of the year last season. Michigan's Trey Burke won this award last season, and Peyton Siva was a finalist.
BRANDON LEE'S FINAL FOUR
2014 3-star outside linebacker Brandon Lee has cut his list of schools down to 4. In no order, Lee is down to Louisville, Virginia Tech, Missouri, and California. Lee plays for Lawrence Central in Indianapolis, IN. Other than those 4 schools, Lee also holds offers from Oregon, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Kentucky, N.C. State, Rutgers, and more. He said that he will make his decision on November 8.
SCHIMMEL NAMED TO WOODEN LIST
Senior guard Shoni Schimmel was named to the John R. Wooden Award Women's Preseason Top 30. The 30-player list is made up of players that are early front-runners for college basketball's most prestigious honor based on last year's individual performances and team records.
