Big time WR recaps Ohio State visit

Ohio State has been making a concentrated effort over the last few years to recruit the state of Georgia. The Buckeyes have been able to pull a few recruits out of the state over that time span, most notably Cameron Heyward, and they are back at it again in the 2012 class as they hope to land the services of Sandy Creek High School wide receiver JaQuay Williams. Williams was in Columbus on Tuesday on an unofficial visit and came away impressed with what he saw.

"It went very well," explained Williams. "I toured the school and got to talk to the coaches. I talked to the wide receivers coach, coach (Stan) Drayton and coach (Jim) Tressel. They were just telling me how Ohio State could be a great choice for me and that I would fit right in with their offense."

Williams was particularly impressed with his conversation with head coach Jim Tressel and claims that the recent negative attention has not impacted his view of Ohio State or Tressel.

"I think coach Tressel is a really good man," he said. "I was really impressed with him. (The suspension) hasn't affected me at all. Coach Tressel is a great person. I talked to almost all of the Ohio State players and he puts his players first before anything. (The suspension) really has nothing to do with my recruitment when it comes to Ohio State."

Williams used his time at practice to pay close attention to the wide receivers as they went through drills.

"I was just looking at how (the wide receivers) worked and what their depth chart looks like," he said.

With offers from more than a dozen schools, Williams certainly has plenty of options to choose from. Right now, he's just trying to get out on some unofficial visits before narrowing his list down.

"I don't have a list right now," he explained. "I'm just trying to go all around and see the most schools that I can and then choose which ones I'm going to take my official visits to."

Williams is hoping to narrow it down by the start of his high school football season and right now Ohio State appears to be in great shape to make the cut.

"Ohio State is definitely on my official visit list right now," Williams said. "I already told (the coaching staff) that I will come to Ohio State on an official visit.
