Top big men highlight Hoophall Classic

MORE: Bass Pro tourney preview

The 2012 class is marked with a plethora of talented big men, and the same goes for the 2012 Spalding Hoophall Classic that will be held in Springfield, Mass., this weekend. A number of highly ranked post players will be in action at the event.

Here are some of the top priorities for the scouting eyes of Rivals.com.

1. PF Steven Adams - Fitchburg (Mass.) Notre Dame Prep; committed to Pittsburgh

A 6-foot-10 athlete out of New Zealand, Adams is an enigma in the national recruiting arena. He has had limited exposure in the United States, but when he got that exposure, he was dominant. A struggling Pittsburgh team that just lost Khem Birch will be counting heavily on Adams next year. This weekend Rivals.com will get a better idea of exactly what type of player the Panthers are getting.

2. PF Mitch McGary - New Hampshire Brewster Academy; committed to Michigan

After being thoroughly impressed with the 6-foot-10 McGary on the travel circuit, Rivals.com was less than impressed with McGary's play in November with Brewster Academy. This weekend McGary has the ultimate opportunity to raise his once lofty stock when he faces off against one of 2013's premier post players in Nerlens Noel.

3. C Christopher Obekpa - Centereach (N.Y.) Our Savior New American; uncommitted

Obekpa turned heads in Las Vegas this summer with his athletic and energetic play. He was a game changer in the lane and secured a ranking right outside the four-star range. The question Rivals.com will be looking to answer is whether or not he should have that fourth star. The other question is what exactly is going on with this uncommitted prospects recruitment.

4. SF Kuran Iverson - Hartford (Conn.) Northwest Catholic; uncommitted

Although he is in the 2013 class, Iverson makes the top watch list. Once considered an elite prospect cut out of the mold of Baylor star freshman Quincy Miller, Iverson's stock dropped as his body bulked up and he lost a step. Now the question is if his game has transformed to meet his more powerful physique. Perhaps he should be viewed differently as a prospect and valued more.

5. PF Grant Jerrett - La Verne (Calif.) Luthern; committed to Arizona

A 6-foot-9 finesse forward, Jerrett is the lowest ranked in the Rivals150 of the four prospects in Arizona's No. 1-ranked recruiting class. He is still a top 50 prospect, but many other services have him in the five-star range. This weekend Rivals.com will have a great opportunity to reevaluate Jerrett as he faces Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick. Is he under ranked in the Rivals150 or positioned correctly?
