CSZ: Louisville commit on TV, Russ on Athlon

LOUISVILLE QB COMMIT ON ESPNU TONIGHT
Tonight at 8 p.m., the Trinity Shamrocks will kickoff their season by hosting the Ensworth Tigers from Nashville, Tn. This game will be televised by ESPNU. Louisville fans should be tuned in to see 2014 quarterback commit Reggie Bonnafon for Trinity.

In last week's 48-21 victory over Fort Thomas Highlands in a scrimmage game, Bonnafon completed 22/28 passes for 377 yards and 4 touchdowns. How is he feeling heading into tonight? Check out his latest Senior Year Journal entry for CardinalSportsZone.com.

Trinity has won three straight 6-A state championships, and Ensworth went 13-0 last season and won their third straight Division II-AA state championship.

MEN'S BASKETBALL RELEASES 2013-14 SCHEDULE
"It's just one year" is what you may need to keep telling yourself as you look at the 2013-14 schedule for the defending National Champs. It isn't the Big East of old, and it isn't the ACC of our future, but it will all be alright. With a potential match-up against North Carolina, a road game at Kentucky and two games each against Memphis, UConn and Cincinnati, the schedule is not as bad as some people made it out to be. It's not like you have to have the best schedule in the country to win the national championship in basketball.

There is no BCS system here. The Cards bring back a great team and will be ready to go no matter who is on the schedule. And remember, it's just one year until Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Pittsburgh...

GOVERNOR'S CUP MOVED TO THE END OF THE SEASON
In news that shocked nearly everyone, the annual Governor's Cup football game between Louisville and Kentucky will be moved to the last regular season game starting in 2014 (the contract for that runs to 2016). Traditionally, this game is played first when it is played at UofL. When it is played at UK, it is the third game of the season.

Moving it to the end of the season will be very interesting to see. Will it be overshadowed by the major football rivalries, or will it start to look like a marquee game because it is being played during those other big rivalry games?

MONTREZL HARRELL STILL DUNKING HARD
Here is a video clip of Montrezl Harrell at Adidas Nations in California. He still tries to destroy the rim every time he gets the ball down low. And also, did he develop a Euro-step?

RECRUITING ROUNDUP: BIG BASKETBALL VISITORS
Louisville basketball will be hosting some big-time talent over the next few weeks. Chinanu Onuaku will be visiting the Cards on August 31. He is a 6-foot-10, 250-pound center from Maryland. That is the same weekend that 5-star power forward Trey Lyles will be visiting.

Teams like to bring in recruits during weekends of home football games, and that is the weekend that the football Cards open their season against Ohio.

Also set to visit UofL will be James Blackmon Jr. and Jaylen Johnson. To read more about those 4-star players and their visit, click here.
