Florida DB commits to Louisville

Bobby Petrino landed his first commitment since he was named head coach at Louisville when Palm Bay (Fla.) Merritt Island defensive back Shaquille Jonespledged to be a Cardinal on Wednesday.

Louisville lands their 19th commitment of the 2014 class.

Jones was committed to South Alabama since the summer, but withdrew his pledge after receiving a dream offer from Louisville.

"I got a call from Coach (Todd) Grantham and he told me how he would've offered me at Georgia if he would've seen me. He told me he wanted to offer me a scholarship. I thought it was awesome. My dream growing up was to go to a big school, and I was speechless after I got the offer."

His future position coach will be Terrell Buckley, who gave him an in home visit on Monday.

"It was a good visit. I really like him because I can relate to him. We have kind of the same life story. He was telling me how Louisville has one of the criminal justices programs. I want to do criminal justice. He was just telling me about how Louisville was a good program and great facilities. I just can't wait to visit so I can see it with my own eyes."

Jones will officially visit Louisville on January 24th.
