How good is Louisville basketball?

Louisville basketball is ranked No. 7 in the nation in the Coaches' Poll and they have already racked up a 17-3 record, but how good are they? The answer to that question still seems to be up for debate.

The USA Today Coaches' Poll has the Cardinals tied with Kansas for 7th best in the country. The Associated Press Poll has the Cardinals rated 12th.

Louisville's computer rankings are all over the map. The Sagarin-Elo rankings are no fan of the Cardinals, currently ranking them No. 31. The RPI and Realtime RPI rankings aren't much better, with UofL checking in at No. 29.

Here's a shocker: Louisville is No. 1 in the nation in four different computer rankings - the Daniel Curry Index, the Team Rankings Predictor rating, the Pigskin rating and the Moore rankings.

The Cardinals will face a tough test Thursday night at 7 p.m. when league-leading Cincinnati comes to the KFC Yum! Center.

Cincinnati is rated above Louisville in some computer rankings, and is rated No. 22 in the RPI as of Tuesday morning.

The Bearcats are 19-2 with a 12-game winning streak, but UC has lost seven of its last eight games in Louisville and starting forward Justin Jackson is not expected to play.

Louisville is expected to regain the service of junior point guard Chris Jones, a starter before a recent injury.

BEHANAN TO COLORADO STATE
Former Louisville power forward Chane Behanan has completed his initial work with John Lucas' rehabilitation program in Texas and enrolled at Colorado State.

Behanan, who helped Louisville to two Final Fours and a national championship, will have to sit out the spring and fall semesters at Colorado State, before playing in January of 2015.

"I am extremely excited to have Chane enrolled at Colorado State," CSU coach Larry Eustachy said in a school release. "It is a great fit for both of us. He is a tremendous kid, and I really enjoyed getting to know him during his brief visit to Fort Collins.

"Chane is one of most talented players in the country, and he will be a key addition to our program next season. He has excelled at the highest level of collegiate athletics and there is no doubt that he will be one of the highest profile players to ever compete on the hardwood for the Rams."

Behanan averaged 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season for Louisville, but was dismissed from the team for repeated violations of school policy.
