Charles Standberry TE - 6-3, 205 - 3 stars, 5.6 RR Montgomery, Ala. (Carver) Committed: 2/2/2014
Listed as one of "Alabama's Most Wanted" recruits in early January, Standberry was one of two tight-end recruits visiting last weekend. He committed to Louisville just before his visit ended. The other recruit, junior college transfer Ty Flournoy-Smith, committed to Alabama on Monday. Standberry has the size and frame to be a big-time tight end.
His 45 catches for 674 yards and 10 touchdowns put him among the top-25 recruits in Alabama for 2014 and led to offers from Ole Miss, Boise State, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and several others. The No. 30 tight end in the nation, Standberry was the top tight end in Alabama for 2014. He was committed to Ole Miss for most of the fall before switching to Louisville on Jan. 31.
Rivals.com camp analysis on Standberry: "Standberry intrigued us before the event, after we watched his film. When he checked in at the RCS Birmingham he passed the eye test and caught everything away from his body. He has a true tight-end build with wide-receiver speed, and his size was a mismatch against smaller defensive backs."
