Robinson commits to Louisville

Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview defensive end G.G. Robinson was torn between Virginia and Louisville this week, but decided to commit to Louisville on Thursday night.

"First off, I wanna say thank you to my Lord and Savior, my family, and friends. I wouldn't be where I am without them. Also I would like to thank every coach that has ever shown interest in me. It truly means a lot. Especially the University of Virginia, such a class act. I'm torn I had to choose between the two but, I'm sure I made the right decision for my family and I. With that being said... I'm extremely blessed to say that I am officially committed to the University of Louisville," Robinson said in his announcement on Twitter.

One of the biggest factors in Robinson's decision between Virginia and Louisville was coaching stability, and the Cardinals held the edge.

"They were really head to head and equal the whole time," Robinson said of Virginia and Louisville. "But the main thing was Coach London being on the hot seat. That is what really made me commit to Louisville."

Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino has had many question if he's going to be with the Cardinals long term based off his past, but Robinson believes Petrino will be sticking around.

"It's his first year back so he shouldn't be going anywhere," Robinson said. "It's his second time there and his first one he did pretty well. Louisville is coming off a good winning season. It can only go up from there."

The Peach state is beginning to be the Cardinals best state to recruit, and ace recruiter Todd Grantham is a reason why Robinson committed to Louisville tonight.

"When he was at Georgia he recruited me a little, but he really got on me when he got to Louisville," he said of Grantham. "He recruited me pretty hard. We talked in depth about twice a week. He let me know how bad he wanted me and some Louisville players that keep in touch with me recruited me too.

"I'll be playing a three-technique in the 4-3. In the 3-4 defense in pass rushing situations, I'll play end and rush the passer. Whenever we talked, he told me he wants to take me to Tallahassee just so we can beat Florida State," Robinson said.

Although Robinson is committed, he will stay take his official visits. Along with Louisville, Virginia, USF, and Mississippi State will be three destinations he will see before he signs on National Signing Day next February.
