The 2019 Kentucky recruiting class boasts eight four-star recruits. It is far and away the best class in the rivals.com era and Lousville holds zero commits from those eight four stars. If a 2-10 record wasn't enough to get Petrino fired going 0-8 in this class was the proverbial straw that snapped the camel's spine.
Enter new Louisville coach Scott Satterfield who in his introductory press conference, pledged to recruit his own backyard with vigor.
"We have to win the (recruiting) battles right here in the state of Kentucky and Ohio and then down in the southeast."
In a follow up question to his statement to win the battles in Kentucky, Satterfield was asked how much emphasis he will place on recruiting the city of Louisville.
"“Huge, it is huge for us. There is some great talent here and again that is why I am talking to the high school coaches right here in Louisville and are welcome to come and watch us practice. Come over here we are going to have some things this spring in spring practice that we are going to open up to high school coaches. Become clinic and meet with some coaches it won’t cost them anything because I want our staff to get around these guys because I want these players that are playing around here in high school to feel like they have a home right here and they can come to play right here and meet all their goals and aspirations right here in Louisville,” responded Satterfield.
