Big Monday win nets Cards two ACC honors

After Louisville's big 31-13 win on national television Monday night, the Cardinals' new league released its list of Players of the Week Tuesday. Safety James Sample and kick returner Corvin Lamb were honored.
Starting at safety, Sample was named Co-Defensive Back of the Week and Lamb was named Co-Specialist of the Week.

Sample, a junior out of Sacramento, Calif., led the defense with eight total tackles and was one of two players to record an interception in a dominating performance by the defense. Louisville held the Hurricanes to 70 yards on the ground and 244 yards of total offense. It was his first appearance in a Cardinal uniform, as he transferred to Louisville one season at American River College in California.
Lamb made his mark on special teams, as he returned two kickoffs for 116 yards, including one for 97 yards and a touchdown. Trailing Miami 10-7 in second quarter, Lamb went untouched for the first kickoff return for a touchdown since Charles Gaines raced 93 yards in a 72-0 win over FIU last season.
The Cardinals remain home on Saturday, Sept. 6 for a 7 p.m. kickoff versus Murray State.
