Brohm, Bush named to Maxwell watch list

Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm and running back Michael Bush were named to the Maxwell Award pre-season watch list, annually presented to the collegiate player of the year. Bush, a senior, was the Big East Conference's leading scorer last season while Brohm, a junior, was the Big East Offensive Player of the Year.
The award watch list is comprised of 60 candidates compiled by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee. Twelve semifinalists for each award will be announced in October and the field will be trimmed to three finalists in November. The winner of the Maxwell Award will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show that will be broadcast on ESPN in December 2006.

The formal presentation of the Maxwell Award will take place at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Banquet in March 2007. Last season, Elvis Dumervil was the first Louisville to earn a national award when he took home the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
Brohm (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) enters his junior season as one of the most prolific passers in school history. He has thrown for 3,702 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career. He's coming off his best season in his first year as a starter. The Big East Offensive Player of the Year, Brohm threw for 2,883 before suffering a knee injury that
sidelines him for the final two games.
Bush (Louisville, Ky./Male) has been named a preseason All-American in almost every publication is coming off a great season, where he rushed for 1,143 yards and was the nation's leading scorer. He stands seventh in school history with 2,380 yards and stands second with 36 career touchdowns.
Louisville will play a 12-game regular season, including six home contests. The Cardinals open this year's campaign at home against Kentucky on Sept. 3 at 8:00 p.m.
