For the ladies, women's basketball player Sara Hammond was nominated as a candidate. And for the guys, there were 3 student-athletes nominated: basketball players Russ Smith and Luke Hancock, and center for the football team, Jake Smith.
The King and Queen crowning will take place during halftime of the Louisville-UCF football game on Friday December 18. Will former Kings Kyle Kuric and Peyton Siva welcome another basketball player to their club?

LOUISVILLE FOOTBALL COMMITS MAKE ALL-STAR GAME
Year in and year out, some of the best high school football players in the country come from the state of Florida. So when you are selected for an All-Star game in that state, that says a lot about the kind of talent you have. The Louisville Cardinals have 3 players committed for the class of 2014 that will play in the Nike Miami-Dade vs Broward football All-Star game. WR George Rushing and DE Rashawn Shaw will play on Team Florida, and S Michael Johnson will play on the Miami-Dade team. The game will be played in Miramar, FL on December 28.
BLUEPRINT FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Earlier this week, CSZ member Jeremy Wahman laid out some scenarios of what would need to happen for the Cards to make the BCS National Championship this season. He looks at remaining schedules for all top teams, and shows you what games are important and what teams need to win. Check that out here. http://cardinalsportszone.com/2013/09/30/blueprint-national-title-game/
RECRUITING: BIG FRIDAY FOR THE CARDS?
There is one player that will commit on Friday, and one that possibly could. Chinanu Onuaku is expected to announce his decision at 2:30 on Friday afternoon. He is said to be down to Louisville and Miami, although he did visit Georgetown last weekend. His coach, Lou Wilson, seems to like the chances for the Cards: "From our conversations, it seems he feels like he'll have an opportunity to play at Louisville, get a good education, and be on a winning team. He seemed to enjoy being around the coaches and players down there for his visit."
The other player that may announce his decision is JUCO point guard Sam Cassell Jr. He is down to Louisville and UConn, and some believe an announcement could come as early as Friday at some point. He will have three years of eligibility wherever he goes.
