Freshman QB suspended

University of Louisville redshirt-freshman quarterback Matt Simms has been suspended for the first four games of the 2008 season for a violation of team rules, according to head coach Steve Kragthorpe. The team released the suspension Tuesday evening.
Until the suspension, Simms had been battling sophomore Tyler Wolfe for the back-up quarterback spot behind senior Hunter Cantwell. Simms will continue to practice with the team, but will not be allowed to play in the first four games.
Simms is one of four freshman quarterbacks on the UofL roster. True freshman QB Zach Stoudt, a highly-touted 6-foot-5, 210-pound from Dublin, Ohio, is expected to redshirt this season. Freshman walk-ons Ryan Osiecki and Will Stein are also on roster.
