Louisville knew its 2014 schedule would be a step up, but the new USA Today Coaches' Poll confirmed it.
Released Thursday, the poll ranks Florida State as the No. 1 team in the country. While that's no big surprise, it could mean the Seminoles would bring the No. 1 team in the nation to Louisville on Oct. 30.
"We're very excited about being No. 1 and happy to be No. 1, but we understand that we have to play like No. 1 and play great football," Fisher told USA TODAY Sports. "That's going to be our objective. We're proud to start there and now we just have to go play great football."
While Miami was the media pick to win the Coastal Division of the ACC, North Carolina came in at No. 23 in the preseason Coaches' Poll and Miami was unranked.
Louisville's schedule also includes a road trip to No. 16 Clemson on Oct. 11 and a road trip to South Bend, Ind., to face preseason No. 17 Notre Dame.
There were several ACC teams listed among Others Receiving Votes:
Miami was ninth among others receiving votes with 45 points. Duke was 10th with 41 points and Louisville was 11th with 32 points. Virginia Tech is 16th with 12 points and Georgia Tech got two points.
