After being dismissed for a violation of team rules, Vatuvei transferred to San Mateo. Vatuvei recorded 35 total tackles, 20 solo tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Vatuevei will play defensive end in Todd Grantham
s 3-4 scheme.
Louisville's newest signee visited Fresno State on January 24th and check out Louisville on January 14th.
Brad Hoiseth of JCGridiron.com had this to say about Pio Vatuvei: "He was the forgotten man in one of the better defensive lines in the country. With all the attention going to Trevor Kelly and Rika Levi, Vatuvei managed to fly under the radar and had a great season. He is an inch or two short of perfect, but quick off the ball and plays with intensity."
