After making the transition from wide receiver to quarterback for his senior season at Louisville's Trinity High, Bonnafon led the Shamrocks to a 6-6 record against one of the toughest schedules in the nation, with six games against powerhouse programs in Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee. The No. 2 overall recruit in Kentucky and No. 40 multi-position athlete in the nation, according to rivals.com, Bonnafon is one of Louisville's highest-rated recruits in the 2014 class.
He was the first recruit to commit to the Cardinals in the class, and he stuck with them through the coaching change. Bonnafon got offers from Louisville, Purdue, Auburn and Kentucky as a junior, and he was impressive while leading drills during Louisville's camp after his junior season. Louisville fended off a late charge from Texas to hang on to Bonnafon's commitment.
Bonnafon on Louisville: "The relationships that I have with the coaches just made me realize that Louisville would be the right fit for me. I think I can bring a lot of leadership to the team and be a hard worker that will push everybody on the team."
