Stewart has visits in mind

Clearwater, Fla. -- Rivals.com was able to catch with Clearwater (Fla.) Central Catholic cornerback Rashaad Stewart after his team's 53-18 win on Friday night.

Stewart's recruitment took off during the spring as he racked up several new offers, including one from Louisville. The Cards are keeping in touch, and they're one of the schools that are in the mix.

"I'll probably make a decision sometime after the season," Stewart said. "I'm going to take some visits. I'll probably visit Louisville, Boston College, Western Kentucky, and Cincinnati."

Stewart has yet to set any of his official visits. He has his full gaze on his senior season and capturing a state championship.

His team's bye week falls in November, so he hopes to take an official visit that weekend, and then he'll take his other official visits after his high school season ends in late-November or early-December.

From Louisville, he's in touch with the Cards' defensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

"Coach Grantham and Coach (Nick) Petrino have been recruiting me. They really want me," Stewart said.

"They just tell me that they really like me. They like my skillset on defense, and they think I'd be a good fit in their defense."

With Stewart being a Florida boy that's considering Louisville, he definitely kept a close eye on the contest between the Cards and the Seminoles on Saturday.

Louisville routed FSU, and Stewart was impressed.

"That was a great win for Louisville," he said. "I feel like they're definitely a top tier team and everybody needs to stop sleeping on them. As far as recruiting, them being a top five school is another positive factor that will play into my decision."

Cincinnati is a school that has been rising up in Stewart's recruitment.

"Actually, their DB coach was here today. He checked me out, and I'm really building a relationship with him. Plus, they're really on the come up. They had a really good game against Houston. I can see myself playing there."

Quick scouting report

What I like about Stewart's game at cornerback the most is that he really takes the cornerback position as his own craft. He doesn't take plays off, and he gets himself in position to make pass break ups and tackles. Stewart has great size for a cornerback at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, and he's just a really smart football player.
