Sacramento -- The first day of the NCAA Championship meet was definitely eventful. All eight Louisville athletes competed in preliminary competitions in four different events.

Jumpers Tone Belt and Andre Black qualified for the long jump national finals, Arthur Turland and Brandon Cook competed in the discus, Emily Turland and Zenai Savagae threw the hammer, Cory Thorne ran steeplechase and Wesley Korir competed in the 5000 meters.
