The No. 1 offensive lineman in Indiana skipped offers from Indiana, Purdue and most of the Big Ten to sign with Louisville. A longtime Louisville commitment, McNeil opened up his recruitment after the coaching change and took official visits to NC State, Oklahoma, Indiana and Louisville during his recruitment. In the end the Cardinals won out over offers from top programs like Oklahoma, Michigan State, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and many others.
Rated the No. 8 overall recruit in Indiana, McNeil is the No. 40 offensive tackle in the nation, according to rivals.com. His frame and ability to add weight made him a hot prospect.
Rivals.com's Josh Helmholdt on McNeil: "McNeil did not hit the off-season camp and combine circuit, but apparently he was hitting the weight room often. He is now over 270 pounds, and when we saw him in September his frame had filled out nicely. Combined with his athleticism and length, the Indianapolis (Ind.) Decatur Central star has outperformed his two-star rating and is in line for a bump."
