A true sleeper with tremendous speed, Tru Washington could have been going to Akron had new Louisville defensive backs coach Terrell Buckley not joined the staff at Louisville. Washington flipped his commitment from Appalachian State to Akron to Louisville after taking visits to Appalachian State, Syracuse and Louisville throughout the recruiting process.
On Saturday, he actually called the Louisville coaches while on his Syracuse visit, committed to Louisville and then finished his visit with the Orange before making a public statement to CardinalSports.com.
Washington on Louisville: "I liked everything about the visit. The coaching staff impressed me. I feel like the coaches know what they're doing and they're confident that they can win the ACC and national championships. The facilities are great, the stadium and the Muhammad Ali Museum are impressive. I like Coach Petrino.
"He's on a mission and assured me that he's going to be at Louisville a long tim. We also talked about the system and what their philosophies are. I liked everything about this visit."
