It's Louisville's first fall camp under new head coach Jeff Brohm and he's already fired up with great expectations set for his team. Coach Brohm had a chance to speak to the media today ahead of the first open practice of the preseason, preaching to the public how excited he is to get the ball rolling, as well as assuring everyone that his guys are ready and focused. The Cardinals first game against Georgia Tech in Atlanta is exactly one month from now, so starting the season off with a bang is one of Brohm's top priorities. The first step being practicing hard and preserving everyone's health, because this is where it begins.

"We're definitely excited to kick off Fall Camp today and I know our guys have worked hard to get better and gel this thing together," said Brohm. "It's important to get our guys prepared and ready to go, and get guys healthy as much as we can for game one as well. We're looking forward to preparing for Georgia Tech."

As far as schedule's go, Louisville is very confident against all of their opponents this season, and they may very well be favored in every matchup. The Cardinals have the third easiest schedule in all of Power 5 according to ESPN's Football Power Index, as they take a year off from playing Clemson due to newly implemented ACC scheduling changes. Instead, their toughest opponent this season will be Notre Dame, who's coming off a solid season with a coach who was new to the program, similar to Brohm this season. With games against N.C. State and Miami on the road, and the big one against Kentucky, the Cardinals will have a fair share of tests coming up that will require their best football, starting with the first day of camp.

"Our goal is to win the ACC Championship and that's the same this year," said Brohm. "Beating the rival is as well and we all know who that is."

Coach Brohm has set the standard extremely high in year one, which isn't surprising at all due to his competitive nature and being a former player here himself. He knows what it takes to play at a high level and win football games at this stage, and being at his alma mater just adds more fuel to the fire.

Scott Satterfield didn't understand the magnitude of this rivalry like Coach Brohm does, who's already experienced the Battle of the Bluegrass for himself many years ago. Louisville has taken a backseat to Kentucky these past few seasons, but Brohm is looking to flip it back to the way it was, because he knows as well as everyone that the only thing worse than Louisville losing, is when they lose to Kentucky.

There's a huge level of optimism coming out of L&N Stadium this season, mainly because of improvements to the program all across the board. If the Cardinals can reach their ceiling and stay consistent throughout the year, Louisville is primed to have one of its best football seasons in many years and who better to bring the glory back to this football program than Louisville's prodigal son, Jeff Brohm.
