Maurice Grinter commits to the Cards
Coach Bobby Petrino's football staff has picked up its second commitment for the class of 2005 in less than a week in Louisville Fairdale High School two-sport star Maurice Grinter has committed to the University of Louisville. Grinter told Jody Demling of The Courier-Journal the opportunity to play both sports in college sealed the deal for the Cards.
"When they wanted me to play both (football and basketball), it was really exciting for me," Grinter told the C-J Friday. "I am truly excited and am looking forward to having the opportunity to play and develop my athletic skills for two of the best coaches in America."

The 6-4, 220-pound Grinter can play more than five positions in football and was recently observed playing swing guard and power forward for the Derek Smith All-Stars AAU program in the adidas May Classic in Bloomington, In.
Grinter also participated in the Jefferson County Coach's Association combine in early May, posting a sub-4.6 time in the 40-yard dash and an impressive performances in the vertical leap, shuttle run and 185-pound bench.
Grinter rushed for 1,154 yards, averaging 5.4 yards a carry with 15 touchdowns as a junior last season for Fairdale. He also had 483 yards passing, 157 yards receiving, nine interceptions and 31 tackles.
Grinter joins New Jersey safety Darius Mann as the second high school junior to commit to Petrino's Cards in less than a week. Mann, a 6-foot, 180-pounder, is one of at least four Louisville prospects from national power Don Bosco Prep Academy (N.J.).
As part of the class of 2005, Grinter and Mann can't officially sign with Louisville until next February on national signing day, one of the biggest days of the year for the Rivals.com National Recruiting Network.
